Cookie Policy
Last updated: 2026-07-24
1. Introduction
This Cookie Policy explains how butler-school.com handles cookies and similar technologies, in compliance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the ePrivacy Directive, and applicable national legislation.
2. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device when you visit it. They allow the site to store and retrieve information about your browsing — for example to keep you logged in, remember preferences, or analyse how the site is used. They do not, on their own, identify you personally; they identify the device and browser you are using.
3. Cookies on This Website
Xclusive Butler School deliberately keeps the website light. On the public marketing pages we set no advertising cookies and no social-media tracking cookies, and our website analytics are cookieless (see section 3.3). No non-essential cookie is placed on your device without your action.
3.1 Strictly necessary cookies
Our hosting provider (Vercel Inc., USA) may set strictly necessary cookies for security and load-balancing. When you create an account or sign in, Supabase sets a strictly necessary session cookie to keep you logged in. These cookies are exempt from consent under Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive because they are required to provide the service you have requested.
3.2 Embedded video (Vimeo)
Lesson preview videos are embedded from Vimeo using a click-to-load mechanism. No request is sent to Vimeo and no Vimeo cookie is set until you actively click to load a video. If you do, Vimeo (USA) may then set cookies to play the video; your click is your consent to this. Simply browsing a lesson page sets no Vimeo cookie.
3.3 Analytics (cookieless)
We use Plausible Analytics (hosted in the EU) to understand aggregate site usage. Plausible sets no cookies and stores no information on your device, so it requires no consent under §25 TDDDG. See our Privacy Policy for details.
4. Types of Cookies (general overview)
By managing entity
- First-party cookies — set by the publisher of the site (Xclusive Butler School).
- Third-party cookies — set by an external service embedded on the site. Only Vimeo, and only after you click to load a preview video (section 3.2).
By purpose
- Strictly necessary — required for the website to function.
- Preference / personalisation — remember choices you have made.
- Analytics / measurement — help understand how visitors use the site. Handled cookielessly by Plausible — no analytics cookie is set.
- Advertising / behavioural — build a profile of your interests for marketing. None currently active.
By duration
- Session cookies — deleted when you close your browser.
- Persistent cookies — retained for a defined period.
5. Future Cookies
Should we introduce any tool that sets a non-essential cookie or otherwise stores or accesses information on your device (for example cookie-based analytics or advertising), this policy will be updated and a consent banner will be shown to obtain your consent before any such cookie is set.
6. How to Manage or Delete Cookies
You can configure your browser to accept all cookies, reject all cookies, or be notified each time a cookie is set. The exact procedure depends on your browser; the help pages of the major browsers explain how:
Note that disabling strictly necessary cookies may prevent parts of the website from working correctly.
7. Changes to This Policy
This Cookie Policy may be updated to reflect changes to the technologies used or to applicable law.
